Marketing Yemen as a Regional Business & Industrial Centre
Now the Yemeni Government is following the policy of the open door. All investors are encouraged regardless of their Nationality to invest in Yemen. Trying to be part of this new changing world and to make Yemen part of the world economy. Real efforts are being made to make Yemen a prosperous and peaceful place to live for its citizens and foreigners alike. Hence, common efforts and partnership are required to develop Yemen in General and in particular Aden Free Zone.
Aden Port because of its strategic place, few miles away from the International Shipping route, offers good business opportunities with high returns on any investment from any other country in the region. .
According to the American Embassy in Sana’a economic report for the Year 1999/2000. Half-worldwide Ship containers and Oil Tankers passes on this shipping International route. At the present, Aden Port has total 7 Quay Cranes and nearly 1000 meters of Berth Length. 5 Cranes and 700 meters are in the Free Zone Container Terminal and two Cranes and nearly 300 meters at Malla Container Terminal. There are ample storage facilities 74 Hectares within the Port Area of the Free Zone and around 70,000 SQ.M in Malla Container Port. There are future expansion plans to increase the berth. Therefore they are unlimited business opportunities not only in Logistics but other ancillary services such as storage, bunkering, catering, Dry Docks, Import and Export businesses from and to nearby countries by Sea and Air etc
Not only Aden Port, Yemen in General can become the fastest and the most dynamic countries of the region. Yemen has a thriving agriculture and in need only to introduce the Western Standard in Packaging and Marketing expertise for the export business in agriculture products to flourish. Yemen Petroleum industry really came into its own with more discoveries and increasing production of oil. Present Production is in the region of 500,000 barrels/day. 60% is exported so it can offer good business opportunity for chartering or outright purchase of Oil Tankers. Another promising energy sector is Aden Oil Refinery that needs modernization. Other Sectors such as fisheries and Tourism are promising and can offer high returns on any investment.
The Yemen Liquefied Natural Gas venture is the largest industrial project to be taken in Yemen. The reserves are estimated to be in the region of 15.0 Tcf. It is more than sufficient to feed two-train LNG Production of 5.3 Mt per year. After the Pipelines from Mareb to Balhaf are completed. This will not only boost revenue from Gas Export but it will be the backbone for Industrial revolution from light to heavy industries which can serve over 1.5 billion people in the region. There are already 32000 Hectares are reserved for the Free Zone Industrial area.
